Corridors to Upper Garw Valley

Wyn Davies and his team at Garw Valley Community Council are developing a visitor centre to offer information on local activities, specialist shops, local history, fishing permits, rights of way & forestry activities.

The past fifteen months has seen the Upper Garw Valley transformed from a backwater into a vast potential tourism base with visitors from various places attending on a regular basis. The Community Council (Project Sponsor) has teamed up with the local angling association, a new bridleway group, Bridgend County Borough Council Rights of Way department and formed close relationships with a Nordic Walking group, these actions will in turn form bases for additional visitors to enjoy the activities on offer.

New walking routes have been established with brochures explaining the routes and associated places of interest.

There is also the potential to develop mountain biking trails for enjoyment by families and keen bikers; a world renowned cyclist Rowan Sorrell sees the upper Garw Valley as a match for those established mountain biking facilities throughout the British Isles.
More importantly, the changes made in this area have given local people a sense of pride and enjoyment.
