Project Brief

This was a collaborative project involving eight LAGs and covering eleven local authorities working together to maximise the potential of the local supply chain across the region to drive growth.

A partnership of 8 RDP Local Action Groups: Bridgend, Caerphilly & Blaenau Gwent, Cwm Taf (Merthyr Tydfil & Rhondda Cynon Taf), Vale of Usk (Monmouthshire & Newport), Neath Port Talbot, Powys, Torfaen and the Vale of Glamorgan.

This was a collaborative project involving eight LAGs and covering eleven local authorities working together to maximise the potential of the local supply chain across the region to drive growth. The vision is to build a stronger more resilient local economy, by developing a set of ambitious targets enabling the region to progress towards a shorter supply chain for local land based products.

The aim of this particular commission was to put in place a solid understanding of how to get to that point as a region in order to inform a significant application for funding to the Welsh Government’s Co-operation & Supply Chains Development Scheme. Further details on that project can be found here.

Objectives of the study:

• To undertake research in all 8 LAG areas.

• To understand the priorities for the group over the next three years.

• To understand how to bring all LAG areas together to work collaboratively

This project has completed. The final report can be found in our Resources section.
