In partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council Regeneration Service, the LAG commissioned the Wales Co-operative Centre to undertake research on its behalf into the challenges faced by third sector organisations when considering taking responsibility for publicly owned assets.
A part of the brief was to use this research to develop a bespoke toolkit to help rural community based organisations to navigate the process of Community Asset Transfer (CAT).
The main aims of the commission were to:
- Enable and facilitate the transfer of assets into community-led use through empowering local communities to act as custodians.
- To ensure the long-term sustainability and viability of public assets.
- To support the development of a strong third sector with the capacity to manage public assets.
Copies of the CAT Report and CAT Toolkit are available in our Resources section.
