Bedford Park Volunteer Facilities

The Reach team are supporting the development of Bedford Park working alongside the Climate Change team to provide a feasibility study for a new volunteer hub. Bedford Park is one of Bridgend County Borough Councils (BCBC) Local Nature Reserves. Llais Y Goedwig (the voice of community woodlands in Wales) has been managing the site for BCBC and has been regularly supporting local volunteers to make park improvements. The existing washroom block is no longer fit for purpose and has been closed for several years and another building used for volunteers has been condemned.

The development of this project stems from a local need to address current issues faced by the park’s volunteers for essential washrooms, tool and equipment storage facilities. The volunteer group would like to investigate the possibility of new accommodation at Bedford Park to create a Wellbeing Workhub for training sessions, a remote office space, storage and washroom facilities for the volunteers.

The study will encompass various site surveys, ground mapping, flood risk checks and ground investigations to determine the feasibility of the project.
