BMX Bike Tracks Park
Llynfi BMX approached the Reach team at BCBC, to apply for the Community Feasibility fund, for a study that would assist the Group in their consideration of a Community Asset Transfer of the former Coegnant Colliery Site, which has been abandoned for many years.
Llynfi BMX Racing Club offers opportunities for children, young people and adults to participate in BMX Racing at a National Standard Track. This includes open track sessions, coaching sessions, training sessions and racing up to Regional level. Participants can loan BMX race bikes and full-face helmets from the club, who also offer pathways into the Sport.
Currently there are barely any outdoor play and sports facilities in Caerau and the Llynfi Valley that are open access and provide the opportunities for children and young people to feel safe, be active, enjoy socialising and have fun together in their community.
The feasibility study will include consultation with local young people, development options for the site, consideration of various elements such as floodlighting, a standalone building including toilets and changing facilities, as well as costings for the acquisition and development of the site and the identification of potential capital funds to deliver the project, presented in a report that will inform future funding bids.
Upcoming Consultation Event December 24
In December we would like to hear from you!
We’re seeking the community’s input on two exciting initiatives:
- New open access bike pump track and skate park, and upgrading the existing Llynfi BMX Track
- Constructing an all-weather sports facility on the former Blaencaerau School site
These improvements would serve as vital resources for children, young people, and families across Caerau, creating inclusive and active spaces that support year-round recreational opportunities.
BMX Track new facilities and enhancements
Our vision is to transform the Llynfi BMX Racing Club into one of the top BMX facilities in the UK. This would involve upgrades to the existing track, the addition of new biking facilities like a pump track, a news skate park, and improvements to amenities, including a café and restrooms.
Why Community Input Matters
Your insights and ideas are crucial to making sure these facilities reflect the needs and aspirations of Caerau’s residents. By getting involved now, you’re helping us shape the future of our community spaces and ensuring we can build a compelling case for funding when it becomes available.
