The Mem – Nantymoel

The Memorial Hall in Nantymoel is an important facility at the heart of the community, regularly used by a wide range of local groups, activities, and events. As a valuable community asset, ensuring the hall remains safe, functional, and energy efficient is essential for its long‑term sustainability.

In 2024, the Resilient Communities team commissioned and funded a comprehensive feasibility study, delivered by Bro, to explore improvement and energy‑efficiency options for the Hall. The purpose of the study was to explore options for improving the hall, including ways to enhance its energy efficiency, modernise the building, and ensure it continued to meet the needs of its users. The feasibility work included an assessment of the building’s condition, an energy review, and a detailed action plan outlining potential improvements.

As the project progressed to the action‑planning stage, one of the key recommendations identified was the installation of new internal doors, including upgraded fire doors, to improve energy efficiency, reduce heat loss, and enhance safety within the hall. These improvements were considered essential to help make the building more resilient and cost‑effective to operate.

Following this recommendation, in 2025 the Management Committee applied to the Resilient Communities team for a capital grant to support the installation of the new doors. The application was successful, and the grant provided the funding required to carry out the work.
Thanks to this support, The Memorial Hall, Nantymoel, has now been fitted with new internal and fire doors, improving both the energy performance and overall safety of the building, helping to ensure it continues to serve the community well into the future.
